Chargeback

The chargeback is the reversal of a payment initiated by the cardholder with their bank or issuer when they do not recognize a transaction. In ticketing, it occurs if the buyer claims to have been charged without authorization or not to have received their ticket. In the event of a chargeback, the processor temporarily withdraws the amount until the dispute is resolved. To reduce them, platforms apply anti-fraud, identity validation, tokenization, and evidence recording (date, IP, QR used). Good chargeback control protects revenue, reduces losses, and maintains the merchant's reputation with card issuers and payment gateways.
